Coeur d'Alene Mines Corp. [NYSE:CDE; TSX:CDM] is suspending operations at its Cerro Bayo mine in southern Chile for six weeks to upgrade its electrical infrastructure.

Previously, the company had projected that production at Cerro Bayo this year would be about 2.5 million ounces of silver and 40,000 ounces of gold - 47% and 8% increases over 2007 levels, respectively.

The company now anticipates these production targets to be reduced by about 180,000 ounces of silver and about 4,000 ounces of gold.

Precious-metals miner Coeur d'Alene Mines will close its Cerro Bayo silver/gold mine, in southern Chile, for about six weeks, in order to upgrade the operation's electrical infrastructure, the firm said on Tuesday. The company began implementing a recovery plan earlier this year at Cerro Bayo, which battled in 2007 with high costs and declining production.
